Mercedes G-Class rental in Marbella: G400 or G63 AMG?
In Marbella the 2024 Mercedes-Benz G400 diesel costs €650 for one day and the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 costs €850, with a €5,000 deposit on both. The G400 makes 330 hp and the G63 makes 585 hp. Choose the G400 for long drives and a lower bill, or the G63 for the AMG V8 and its sound.

A Mercedes G-Class rental in Marbella comes down to two cars with the same boxy body: the 2024 G400 diesel with 330 hp at €650 a day, or the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 with 585 hp at €850 a day. Both seat five and are based in Marbella. Both include 150 km a day and fully comprehensive insurance, and both carry the same €5,000 deposit. What separates them is the engine, the acceleration and €200 a day.

What is the difference between the Mercedes G400 and the G63 AMG?
- The Mercedes-Benz G-Class
- is the off-roader Mercedes has built in Graz, Austria, since 1979, according to the Wikipedia article on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, with assembly handled by Magna Steyr. The G400 and the G63 share that square body, five seats and the high driving position. The engine, the exhaust and the character of the car are where they part ways.
The G400 in the fleet runs a six-cylinder diesel, makes 330 hp and reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 6.4 seconds. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 carries a petrol V8 tuned by AMG, the performance arm of Mercedes, makes 585 hp and does the same sprint in 4.4 seconds. That is 255 hp and two full seconds between two cars which, parked outside a Marbella hotel, you could tell apart mostly by the AMG badging.
If you want to see what happens when someone pushes the G63 even further, our article on the Brabus 800 vs the Mercedes G63 in Marbella compares the AMG with the 800 hp conversion. This one looks the other way: the calmest G-Class against the factory AMG.
Which engine does each one have?
Wikipedia's engine table lists the 330 PS G 400 d with the OM 656 inline-six diesel, 2,925 cc and 700 Nm between 1,200 and 3,200 rpm. For the G63 it gives the M 177 twin-turbo petrol V8, 3,982 cc and 850 Nm between 2,500 and 3,500 rpm. The diesel delivers its pull very low in the rev range, which helps on the climbs above Benahavís or with a boot full of luggage. The AMG wants more revs, but it pulls with a sound the diesel simply cannot make.
How much does it cost to rent a G400 or a G63 in Marbella?
The G400 is €200 a day cheaper than the 2024 G63 for every rental length up to 30 days, and €150 a day cheaper from 30 days. The table shows the daily rate of both Marbella-based cars, each including fully comprehensive insurance, delivery, collection and 150 km a day:
| Rental length | Mercedes-Benz G400 (2024) | Mercedes-AMG G63 (2024) | Difference per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 day | €650 | €850 | €200 |
| 2 days | €650 a day | €850 a day | €200 |
| 3 to 6 days | €600 a day | €800 a day | €200 |
| 7 to 14 days | €550 a day | €750 a day | €200 |
| 15 to 30 days | €550 a day | €750 a day | €200 |
| 30 days or more | €450 a day | €600 a day | €150 |
A two-day weekend comes to €1,300 with the G400 and €1,700 with the AMG. A full week costs €3,850 in the diesel and €5,250 in the AMG, a gap of €1,400 for the same seven days. Over a 30-day month the G400 totals €13,500 and the G63 €18,000. The page on long-term car rental on the Costa del Sol explains how the monthly rate works.

Which G63 versions can you rent in Marbella and Puerto Banús?
Besides the 2024 G63, the Costa del Sol fleet has three more G63 cars, each with 585 hp. Only the one-day rate is published for these three; the multi-day price, the deposit and the mileage terms are confirmed in writing when you book, before any payment:
- 2023 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Matte Black, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, based in Marbella, €800 for one day;
- 2026 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Performance, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, based in Marbella, €900 for one day;
- 2026 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG Black, 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, based in Puerto Banús, €900 for one day.
The Matte Black is the cheapest G63 for a single day, €50 below the 2024 AMG. The Black is based in Puerto Banús, the marina José Banús opened in 1970 about 6 km southwest of Marbella, which now has 915 berths according to the Wikipedia article on Puerto Banús. Delivery is free from either base, so the base only changes where the car sets off from.

Which G-Class makes sense for a week of long drives?
For a week with plenty of driving, the G400 diesel is usually the sensible pick. Every rental includes 150 km a day, or 1,050 km over seven days, and each extra kilometre costs €5 in both the G400 and the 2024 G63. That allowance covers several round trips to Málaga, Ronda or Sotogrande without paying anything extra.
Fuel is not included in either car and follows a full-to-full policy. A six-cylinder diesel with 700 Nm cruises the AP-7 at legal speeds without effort, while a 585 hp V8 keeps asking for more throttle. If your week is mostly motorway and little showing off, the G400 leaves you €1,400 for dinners, a few rounds of golf or an extra day of rental.
The G63 earns its price when the car is part of the trip. A wedding, a dinner in Puerto Banús or a short two or three day break are plans where the V8 is the fun and the kilometres hardly matter. Three days in the 2024 AMG cost €2,400 against €1,800 in the diesel, and that €600 buys you 255 extra horsepower.
What does the G-Class rate include, and what costs extra?
The rate for the G400 and the G63 includes fully comprehensive insurance for any rental length, free delivery and collection in Marbella, Puerto Banús and at Málaga Airport, a full clean before handover and 150 km a day. Sotogrande is available on request. The 150 km a day add up to 1,050 km a week and 4,500 km a month.
Outside the rate are fuel, any kilometres beyond 150 a day, and traffic fines and tolls during the rental, which the renter covers together with the admin cost of processing them. All of this is set out in the rental agreement before you sign, so the final bill holds no surprises.
How does the €5,000 deposit work?
The deposit on the G400 and the 2024 AMG is €5,000. It is blocked, not charged, on a credit card in the main driver's name at handover and released once the car is back and has been checked. The insurance excess depends on the model and appears in the confirmation alongside the deposit. Our guide to how the deposit works when renting a luxury car walks through each step, including how long your bank may take to lift the hold.
Which Mercedes G-Class fits your plans?
The choice depends mainly on how many days and how many kilometres lie ahead. With five seats in both, the same boot and the same deposit, the real question is whether the V8 is worth €200 a day to you. Here is how the fleet's G-Class cars line up against the most common holiday plans on the coast, from a family fortnight to a single evening out:
- One or two weeks of family holiday, with airport runs and day trips: G400, at €550 a day for 7 to 14 days.
- A month or more in a villa: G400, at €450 a day with 4,500 km a month included.
- A short weekend of dinners and beach clubs: 2024 G63, at €850 a day.
- An event or photo shoot where the finish matters: G63 Matte Black or G63 Performance, with the one-day rate published and the rest confirmed in writing.
- Starting from Puerto Banús: G63 Black, based at the marina.
If you are torn between two or three cars, the fleet comparison page puts them side by side with power, acceleration, price, deposit and mileage. You can pick up to three at once, for example the G400, the 2024 G63 and the Matte Black, and see every figure on one screen before you get in touch.
How do you rent a Mercedes G-Class in Marbella, step by step?
Booking any G-Class follows the same process as the rest of the fleet, and nothing is charged on the website. The total price, the deposit and the insurance excess are confirmed in writing before any payment:
- Pick the car and the dates, for example on the page of the Mercedes-Benz G400 in Marbella.
- Send your request by WhatsApp, phone, email or through the MARBIORA contact page, with the delivery address and the names of all drivers.
- Get written confirmation the same day with the rate, the deposit and the insurance excess.
- Receive the car at your villa, hotel, marina or the Málaga Airport terminal, with a full tank and photographed.
- At the end, the car is collected wherever you are and the deposit is released after the check.
Every driver must be 25 or older and have held a licence for at least three years. A chauffeur can be arranged with any G-Class when you book. The ferry to Morocco and track sessions are not allowed, and trips to Gibraltar or Portugal need to be cleared with the insurer in advance.
